The Growth Regions

Victoria
Although the hardest hit by the pandemic and subsequent lockdown, Victoria has still managed to see some growth in regional areas.
Geelong had the highest growth in rural land values at 5.4% to a median price of $616,716. Ballarat was second at 4.7% to a median of about $447,485.
Although the Mornington Peninsula saw a negative house price growth of -1.7%, the demand for houses, rural land and units in this region both for rent and to buy, are at the very top of the national demand spectrum.

This change in the shift was also reported by a major newspaper which said that the Regional Movers Index (RMI) showed a national 11 per cent increase in people leaving the "big smoke" to set up houses in country areas, reported by Xinhua news agency.
The data collected by the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) and the Regional Australia Institute (RAI), compared figures from the June quarter of 2021 to those of the period in 2020.
Another newspaper i.e., the Canberra Times, also reported that the city slickers are continuing to migrate to the regions in droves in a bid to escape capitals locked down because of the pandemic. As per the newspaper, during the June quarter, the index conducted by the major bank and RAI found an 11% increase in the number of people moving from capital cities to regional, rural areas.
